Malaga

Malaga is an under rated city - and the majority of visitors don't get further east than the airport!

The home of sweet Malaga wine, a thriving port area and Pablo Picasso's birthplace (which can be visited in Plaza de la Merced).

Like many cities, Malaga is divided into the newer commercial area and then the older more interesting quarter, reached from the Alameda, a shady tree lined avenue, which takes you to the port and the cathedral.

Shopping amongst the narrow cobbled pedestrianised streets is a fascinating experience with an excellent choice of bars and restaurants.

The upmarket modem department store, El Corte Ingles, situated near the coast line station sells practically everything and is open from 10am till late, 6 days a week.

Boat rides around the port or a bus ride up to the Gibalfaro, which offers sensational views over the city are excellent ways to pass a few hours.

A new city museum and a Picasso museum opened October 2003.
