Granada

Granada is easily reached from the Costa del Sol in around 3 hours.

A day trip will give you time to visit the Alhambra, its gardens, and other ancient monuments in the vicinity. More time will enable you to visit the parks, museums, Sacromonte (the gypsy quarter), Albaicin, the old Moorish quarter and relax and savour the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada, which provides the backdrop to the Alhambra.

Entrance to these buildings is restricted by numbers in the height of the summer due to the number of coach parties. Arrive early or late or preferably pre-book your entrance tickets in advance. This is due to the huge number of visitors arriving and the small number that are permitted into the palacio de Las Nazarines at anyone time. When you ring the booking number you will be asked for a time when you wish to visit this Palace and this is your only commitment.

The rest of Alhambra can be visited at your leisure but if you miss your allotted time at this particular Palace then you will not be allowed to enter it. You can either pick up your entrance tickets at the Alhambra itself or call in to any BBV bank branch, giving the reference number you are given at the time of booking. All this is done with a credit card and they speak English. Try to arrive around 10am or 2pm. The Alhambra itself opens at 8.30 am. Tel:90222 4460. Ticketprices are 7 Euros. Please note, that if you do an organised bus excursion, all this is taken care of for you.
